How it works

From a signed build to your Dock

Updates use Sparkle. The private signing key never lives on this server.

  1. Sign

A maintainer signs the ZIP update (and optional installer) on their Mac with Ed25519.

  2. Publish

Artifacts and appcast.xml are uploaded through the protected admin page and verified before going live.

  3. Notice

Installed copies check the feed in the background and offer the new version.

  4. Install

Sparkle verifies the signature, installs the update, and relaunches the app.

Built carefully

Honest downloads, verified updates

This portal only lists releases that have already been cryptographically verified and published.

Signature verified

Sparkle Ed25519 signatures are checked against the configured public key before publication. Apple notarization is not checked by this portal.

Integrity hashes

Each artifact exposes its SHA-256 so you can confirm the bytes you downloaded.

Ready to download

Updates are announced only after their downloads are available.

Clear release history

See the version, release date, and system requirements before you download.

Encrypted downloads

Update checks and downloads use HTTPS to protect data in transit.

No trackers

The public pages load no third-party scripts, fonts, or analytics.

FAQ

Questions, answered

How do I install CloudPuff?

Download the latest published installer or ZIP from the releases list. Open a disk image and drag CloudPuff into Applications, or unpack a ZIP and move CloudPuff.app there yourself. Later versions update themselves through Sparkle.

macOS says it can’t verify the app. What now?

First launches of apps that aren’t from the App Store can trigger this. Control-click the app and choose Open, then confirm. Or open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. You only need to do this once for a given install.

How do updates arrive?

CloudPuff checks this portal’s Sparkle feed in the background. You can also choose Check for Updates… from the app menu. Updates are refused if the Ed25519 signature does not match.

Where is the update feed?

Published releases are listed at /cloudpuff/appcast.xml. Artifacts are served only under /cloudpuff/. Before the first successful publish, the feed returns 404.

Which Macs are supported?

CloudPuff targets macOS 15.0 or later on Apple silicon and Intel.

Why is there no download button?

This site never invents availability. Until a signed release is published through the admin portal, the download CTA stays disabled and the releases section shows an honest empty state.
